I am writing a letter to the mayor of our town. I decided to ask him for help a couple of weeks ago, when I realised that we would probably have serious problems starting our project. We are going to open a centre for sick children. There is a need for such an institution in town. We have already made some major repairs in the building and estimated the costs of buying furniture, equipment and toys as well as hiring the staff. We need some beds, cot bedding sets, medical accessories and fixtures. We have asked several non-governmental organisations for help and they gave us some equipment, but this is unfortunately not enough. The centre will accept up to fifty children so we need more donations. This is why I am writing a letter to the mayor. I have to explain who we are and why it is important for us to get the items that we need most. I hope he will be able to ask some schools or kindergartens to donate beds, cot bedding sets and furniture. He is known to be a generous person and as far as I know, he has already heard about our project. He gave some positive comments about it last week in one of the local newspapers. I will have to deliver my letter soon because we are planning to open the centre in December this year.
